The rain arrived before dawn.
 
Not a storm. Not thunder. Just enough water to wake the earth.
 
A small pink earthworm pushed its head above the soil and immediately knew everything was different. The dust had vanished. The stones were darker. Tiny puddles had gathered between the nopales. The garden smelled alive.
 
Somewhere nearby, rainwater slipped from cactus spines and disappeared back into the ground. The worm followed the scent through wet soil, roots, clay, and forgotten memories buried beneath the garden floor.
 
The elders call this smell tierra mojada.

Created as a tribute to Guadalajara, México, and to the phrase that inspired this candle, Tierra Mojada captures the quiet atmosphere of rain-soaked soil, muddy pathways, roots drinking deeply, and the first breath of earth after rainfall.
